Grand Seikos are known in the timepiece world because of their incredible movements, but once you've decided upon a Grand Seiko, finally determining the model you will take home can be a journey all its own. Spring Drive or Hi-Beat? Finally, there's a myriad of complications - such as the closely related GMT models the SBGJ201 & 211.
The main difference between The SBGH201 and its sister timepiece, the SBGH211 is its dial. While the 211's designers chose a vertical stripe on dial, the 201 has a "Mount Iwate pattern" that's inspired by the ridged contours of Grand Seiko's Mechanical Watch Studio. Meanwhile, the 211 has vertical stripes.
To our Chicagoland eyes? It looks like a fresh snow in the wintertime. Whatever it is, the SBGH201's dial is flat stunning in its simplicity. It goes to show that you don't need a million complications to pull off haute horology.
Now, if you feel like flipping the colors a bit, there's always yet another sister watch in the Grand Seiko GMT lineup the 203, with a black dial and red GMT hand, so there's plenty of choices in the lineup.
Whatever you wish, we've got it at Burdeen's. As for this timepiece, it's powered by the venerable Hi-Beat 36,000 Mechanical Movement connected to a GMT function. Understated and classy through and through, the SBGH201 is the timepiece for professionals and world travelers.
