Most luxury dive watches on the market can be taken pretty much at face value for exactly what they are - dive watches. Maybe they vaguely resemble the Rolex Submariner in some way; maybe they are capable of some ungodly depth numbers, but truly, they have some basic characteristics: chunky, typically rotating bezel; bracelet or rubber strap and typically, they're stainless steel or, in some cases, they're gold.

Well, the IWC Aquatimer CF4 is not your average luxury dive watch

First, the case. Upon initial glance, you might think it's just rose gold. It's not. It's bronze. That means it will patina. If you want it to keep its deep, rich bronze color, you best get out the metal polish. If you like your CF4 to change over time, as is a prerequisite for bronze watches, then this thing will do it in spades. The only other application of bronze in the Aquatimer was the Jacques Cousteau, but that was a chronograph. This watch is one of an extremely limited run of 250, so it's a very special timepiece, indeed.

As for the bronze case, in just a few months, and especially over the course of years, it will gradually turn black, and eventually green, similar to the Statue of Liberty. So, if Lady Liberty does it, is it really wrong?

In addition to the bronze case, the movement inside the case is pretty special. The CF4 was the first application of the IWC Caliber 82110 automatic movement. That's why this diver has a display back. Other IWC divers do not have display backs, so in this watch you get to see that 82110 in all of its glory.

As you can see, this is a very special piece. With a special metal, a limited run of 250 & a special movement, this is a must-have piece for IWC collectors and general watch collectors alike.
