Considered one of the most iconic timepieces in the world, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso gets its name from the reversible dial. At face level, it looks like an elegant rectangular watch, with a roughly 2:1 height to width ratio. However, if you take your thumb and gently push the dial from the opposite end of the crown, the Reverso grants you a whole new world - a new face to explore.

While the lighter dial is called the "Day Side," the second dial is called the "Night Side." Typically, the Day Side is painted with Whites, Silvers, and other bright colors while the Night Side is decorated with darker blacks, dark blues and other colors. It's truly a luxury timepiece with two worlds to explore. Few, if any timepieces give you two experiences in one like the JLC Reverso.

Equestrian Roots

It's a watch with a history rooted in the aristocratic game of polo. The Reverso was given two dials to combat breakage on the Polo field. Players often broke their watches during play due to the balls and mallets hitting their watches. In order to keep official time, polo players could simply reverse the broken Day Side dial and keep the time by looking at the perfectly functional Night Side dial.

It was an ingenious way to combat a problem on the Polo field and it led to a future Horology classic that is revered all over the world.
